Not much to show for this week. Construction around here cleared the bedroom with the closet wherein Gschnitztal awaited, so I was able to get to it and take a photo. It's lovely yarn - so soft and smooshy that it must almost certainly contain cashmere. What a gorgeous colour way too, mostly purple with subtle flashes of lighter and darker purple, and bit of blue. But it is dark. Darker even than the photo. And the pattern is exactly my cup of tea - fiddly twisted stitches and somewhat chart-y... and a nice change from the colourwork socks I just finished.
Unfortunately I had to set this WIP aside for two reasons:
i) The evening light in the new place is terrible! I find it impossibly frustrating to attempt to knit anything dark or fiddly. So right now good light hours are being allocated to my Crosshaven socks. Once they're done, Gschnitztal socks will move to the front burner.
ii) Both Gschnitztal and Crosshaven feature left and right crossed stitches, but the way the patterns are written, the stitches are worked differently. I find it too confusing to switch back and forth between the patterns, so I've decided to complete my Crosshaven socks before getting back into my Gschnitztal socks.
What is clear to me is that I'd better cast on ANOTHER pair of socks - this time in a vanilla pattern with light coloured yarn that I can knit effortlessly in poor evening light while watching TV. So my task this aft is to sort through my yarn and patterns to make some decisions about that. Well. later this aft when I get back from a swim in the lake. The weather this weekend has been too gorgeous to spend inside!

Lovely yarn
If you can - a task light helps immensely with evening knitting. When my grandparents hard their cottage, my grandma had a torchierre with a directable task light directly behind her chair so she could knit. They were right in the woods, so even in day the house was pretty dark.
When I moved out on my own, I went out and bought something similar - it's fantastic! Grandma knows best!
I totally understand poor lighting. I finally invested in a Daylight floor lamp. It has saved my eyesight as we have no natural light in our family room where I knit while watching TV.
I do love that purple yarn though. It looks so luscious.
That is a gorgeous yarn...lighting sucks in my apartment...the Hubs put up one of his spot lamps from painting...we call it the "sun."
I'm not even a purple gal but that yarn is too gorgeous for words! It looks soft too. Yes, get yourself a vanilla light colored sock going quick! I hate it when I have nothing to watch t.v. with. A swim in the lake....I could since it's across the street but I have no desire...I like to watch water but not get in it unless it's a pool where I can see what's in the water! LOL! Enjoy! I am waiting patiently for cool weather and some driving rains at least! Can you tell I storms...not horrific ones though like Harvey and Irma....just the leftovers. Take care and have a great week. Sounds like heaven to me...I have it but it needs to be much farther North!!! LOL!

Good light is essential! I have an Ott Lite, which helps, but it's not as good as sunshine!
I think another pair is definitely in order! I love that yarn, the colour is fabulous, but I can see how you would need the right light.

I love the colour too! Oh lucky you to swim in the lake!!! The weather is really summer-like lately, and I'm okay if it lasts a little while longer!! :)
