Recalling my plan to deliver a pair of red socks on January 2nd for a coworker's birthday, ahead of Chinese New Year, I've been working on them monogamously for the last several days. The pattern is Child's First Sock in Shell Pattern. As I said last week these are knitting up really quickly - slightly more than a week from casting on the first sock to completing the gusset decreases into the foot of the second sock. I expect I'll finish the second sock by end of day tomorrow.

After that, there are a bunch of projects that merit my attention ... second Ringwood sock ... my secret and still incomplete Christmas knitting ... and fingerless gloves for Gavin. He asked me if I would knit them. He picked the pattern (this one). And he picked the yarn (this one with cashmere). He NEVER wants handknits so I'd better do them next. Wouldn't it be nice to get them done so that he can wear them this winter?

Yesterday Gavin and I met my sister and her husband downtown for lunch and a play. And I was happy to see that she was wearing the gloves I knit for her for Christmas. Isn't that nice to see? She says she really likes them and that they fit perfectly. She's definitely knitworthy!

They are gorgeous and you are making real good time on them.

I'm back to the drawing board for socks. I was knitting Argonauta socks and really HATE the pattern. It went in the trash at Starbucks.

How lovely, that she appreciates the gloves. The socks will be gorgeous! Well, they already are, just missing a toe!

Awesome red socks, but they sure don't look like first projects for a child to knit...did I understand the pattern title? Very nice to find out your SIL is knit worthy.

I really love the red of those socks and the pattern shows up so well!
Isn't it wonderful when we see the gifts we've knitted being used and appreciated and those were some pretty wonderful gloves your sister got, definitely knit worthy she is. My own sister loved her hat and now she may even get another lol.

Oh yay, I'm glad Gavin's sister is knitworthy. These socks look wonderful so far!

Have a wonderful 2013, and thanks for sharing your enthusiasm and inspiration with me (and all your readers) in 2012. I love stopping by your blog and I'm looking forward to seeing more of your projects next year :).

It is always nice to see our knits being worn. Yes, I would knit Gavin's gloves next. If he asked you don't want to keep him waiting! Happy New Year!

You've got me thinking that I need to knit something red in anticipation of Chinese New Year! Gavin picked an excellent pattern ... now, get knitting on those mitts for him! ; )

Love the red socks, and the red gloves you knit~ I knit fingerless mitts for my sister and mom and since they did not gush much upon opening them, I am not sure they were that thrilled and may not be considered knitworthy in the future. Gavin deserves those gloves--(for the very fact that he actually asked for a hand knit item!)so I echo Evelyn, get going girl! :)
Happy New Year wishes~~~

I always love it with socks that one can knit them in bold or crazy variegated yarn and they will always get worn. That red is a nice pop of color and is perfect for one who finds it happy and good luck. I think it's so cute how your husband requested those mitts. I like the snug fit and it reminds me how I had two cousins who wanted some.
