slogging along

Sorry that I haven't been posting very regularly; some days the Clapotis doesn't look much different than the day before, no matter how much time I spend knitting. With luck I'll be starting the decrease rows later today. Meanwhile, here are some thoughts:

• Drafting mawatas was fun and interesting when I started this project ... now it's tedious.

• Raw silk sticks to everything.

• It is possible to drop a stitch in raw silk, but it takes some convincing. Possibly because raw silk sticks to everything?!

• Clapotis makes a beautiful finished object but it's an extremely boring knit.

• I (still) hate circular needles.

I like your thoughts! It is very funny! But knitting is this way, I have projects that I hate too, but now is too late to frog it, so a day I will finish that! :-P

It does sound like a long and tedious project, but it is probably going to be the softest, most beautiful Clapotis on Ravelry. Hang in there, this is a masterpiece in the making!

Okay, you've convince me. I don't want to try the silk thing.

The Clapotis yarn is gorgeous.

However boring it is, your Clapotis is coming out beautifully! There is this trick I heard about where, instead of using stitch markers to mark the dropped stitch, you purl it. It helps speed the project along since you don't have to keep slipping markers.

Okay, now I'm insanely curious - why do you hate circular needles? I hate straight needles, so it's interesting to hear "the opposite side" :)

Aww, hang in there! The color is really striking.

Good insight you've provided to mawata. I think it would get on my nerves if it sticks to everything. I LOL'd at how blunt you were about the Clapotis. I on the other hand love circs. My needle supply consists only of them.

It looks beautiful, but it is a shame you are not enjoying it

Re: bullet point one - I feel the exact same way!

Lovely colour and pure silk is such a joy to feel but I too am not to convinced about it overall. It is very heavy, I made a vintage style cardigan in honey comb stitch, in Debbie Bliss Pure Silk, it weighs a ton. I'm thinking of frogging it and making something plainer. It also sheds fluff. My dusty pink cardigan looks fab with skinny black jeans until the dusty bit is all to do with the jeans and not the soft pink of the cardi!!
