work-in-progress Wednesday

Plan B

According to Plan A, I was to finish this secret Christmas knitting project today in order to pass the leftover yarn to a coworker for her secret Christmas knitting project. But perhaps it was somewhat unreasonable to estimate that I could knit a round every three minutes for 8-9 hours across two days while still eating, sleeping and holding down a full-time job? Unreasonable? Or delusional?

This morning - with an estimated 5 hours of knitting time left - it was time to go to Plan B. I still want to pass off the leftover yarn today, so the new plan involves calculating and rewinding the amount of yarn I need to complete my project with the help of a calculator and a kitchen scale. Now that five hours of knitting time can be spread across the next week or two. Much better!

Getting myself in over my head is pretty typical on my part. That's me - the queen of underestimation. I can't count how many times Gavin has had to rescue me from my grandiose plans. Not much chance he'd help me with the knitting, but he did suggest Plan B and for that I'm grateful. To hear him tell it, there was something in our vows about promising to listen to him and do as he says. Nope, don't remember that!

As always, check out the blog list at Tami's Amis. Maybe there are some crafters who are organized and on schedule with their Christmas crafting?!

Wish I was organised and on schedule, even with only a few projects to knit I'm still in over my head ;)

I think plan B sounds like an excellent idea! Now to come up with one of my own ;)

Not delusional so much as optimistic. :) Glad to hear that Plan B is working out and that everyone's Christmas knitting is once again on track. Good luck with the rest!

Hooray for Plan B!! Now, I need to get one of those scales. Mine only has a platform for the yarn and it is very tiny! It's fun to try and balance yarn on that 2"x3" bit of plastic. NOT!

Plan B sounds great!! Well done!

It is hard to plan for time eaten up by lifes little necessities, when all you want is to handcraft...or at least that is my story ;)

Have a great week!

I love the Plan B. It is always helpful to be rescued from grandiose plans by a loved one :).

Don't you wish there's more hours in a day. Or that we can just survive with a couple of hours of sleep? :)

Both yarns look lovely. Great color. Good luck with your secret project!

Good luck! I'm sure you can do it. It is so hard to knit to self-imposed deadlines.

It's always good to have a plan B :) I have a tendancy to be optimistic with timings too, lol. I'm glad it's all working out :D

I've done that more times than I can count! I need to learn to start telling people that my projects will be done when they are done, lol.

Plan B sounds like a fabulous idea!

I had the kitchen scale out yesterday, weighing yarn to see how long the scarf I was working on would end up. Math is not my strong suit! Very good of you to pass on your wool though, yay for Plan B!

I'm always delusional with knitting time too! Hooray for Plan B.

Plan B is great, I do a lot of yarn weighing, it gets me odd looks but at least I know if I can make that second sock
