Once again I finished up last week's socks - Gentleman's Shooting Stockings with Fluted pattern - in time for a Finished Object Friday post. If you missed it, they're here. And then I had a look at what to cast on next. Flipping through the pages of Knitting Vintage Socks, and referring to the project notes from other Ravelers, I decided on Infant's Fancy Silk Sock. Admittedly, I have no infant to knit these for, but I was in the mood for something cute and quick with the idea of giving them away. Numerous Ravelers comments describe the finished socks as "precious", "sweet" and "adorable"; their posted photos of newborns also suggest that the socks fit well.

After seeing Shell's "Not Sik nor Infant" project I was inspired to work in contrast - In Silk and at Infant size. My new Blackthorn size 00 (1.75 mm) needles arrived last week too; isn't this the perfect pattern to try them out? A few hours and 30 grams of silk later, et voilà ... a finished pair of infant socks. All those other Ravelers were right; they are precious, sweet and adorable, if I do say so myself.

Next for my Year of Projects, I think I'll cast on Little Child's Sock. There's a skein of Araucania Ranco Multy in my stash that might work nicely with that pattern. And if the Araucania is too busy for the pattern, I have a plan B in my stash as well. But first I'd better finish some of my other WIPs!

OMGosh, silk socks for an infant? Squee! Whoever you gift it to better have eyes that light up! These are awesome. Love reading about your sock adventures as always. I just may have to put this sock book on my birthday wish list in late summer.

Missed the gentleman's socks on Friday, I got caught up reading on Friday and forgot about catching up on blogs but they turned out wonderful. Wow another pair off the needles and your right cute and adorable they are. Looking forward to seeing the next ones. Your right having a pair on the needles is incentive enough to get them done just to have the needles for something else lol.

They are so sweet! I am glad your Friday post was still visible as I just love looking at those socks! I don't know why, but they just capture my attention. Was the silk hard to work with at that gauge? I have only used lace silk and I hated it! No give and so slippery.

I keep forgetting about the Friday posts! Dang it! Your gentleman socks turned out fabulous! Great boot socks too and so great to use up smaller bits of stash.
Those infant socks are simply too cute for words! I want to make some and just hang them up in my laundry room like a little bunting...they are SO precious! I bet they are even cuter on pudgy little baby legs! LOL! Great job all around....you're a wiz with your needles!

What amazing socks. Even more amazing: You finished a pair of sock in a few hours?! I know they're baby socks, but I can't even knit those so quickly.
