Yarn arrived in the mail on Thursday - a gift from Jill at Studio June Yarn - and the colour is such a pretty tulip pink that I couldn't wait to cast on. The subtle tonal variegation in this yarn looked suitable for this elegant sock with its intricate lace pattern down the front of the leg - Gentleman's Sock for Evening Wear.

Once again the pattern suggests that more than 500 yards of yarn is needed; but in this case other Ravelers' notes suggest that the yarn requirements are overestimated. I've abbreviated the ribbing on the cuff by a handful of rows and abbreviated the stockinette below the cuff by another handful of rows. Now I'm trying to decide how many repeats of the decorative pattern for the leg. Seven as written? Or one or two less? Hmm ... how brave do I feel?

One thing's for sure - I'd better get a move on with these socks. I'm feeling some pressure to knit a couple of pairs of Shark Week Socks; and right now the necessary needles are occupied with these pink socks. Must. Knit. Faster.

That is an AWESOME pattern and such a pretty color too. However, I can't see a "gentleman" wearing them. They look pretty feminine.

Have a great Sunday! Happy Easter.

These are looking great. I was going to post something similar to Dee, I can't see them being worn by a gentleman, even if they were not pink, the lace is quite a feminine pattern.

I love how these will be knee highs. This is a soft, pretty colorway.

These socks are just gorgeous ! By far the prettiest to date ! I love the tones of pink, just enough for interest and still not enough to take away from the pretty lace. Nothing like wanting to cast on something new to hurry a project off the needles, hot tub and a good book sound blissful btw !

I can see why you couldn't wait to cast on. This is incredibly yarn. The pattern is really pretty -- but why write for 500 yards? That is so impractical!

Love the pink. Not Mr. Iknead's color for sure, but I could hijack them. Thanks for the read and the comment!

I'm beginning to think that I need metal dpns. It seems that all the awesome sock knitters use metal. Is there magic to the metal? I need to find out.

Oooh, the yarn is so lovely! Many designers add 20% to the amount of yarn they used to account for variation among knitters. Perhaps that is what happened with this pattern?
